Mississippi State Hospital is proud to recognize Geralyn Mass, Program Specialist IV in SO Quality Management in Building 63, for being selected to participate in the 2026 class of the Mississippi Continuous Improvement Program (MS-CIP). Hosted through the Mississippi State Personnel Board, MS-CIP is designed to provide state employees with hands-on training in project management, process improvement, and change management. The program helps participants develop the skills needed to lead meaningful, efficiency-driven improvements within their agencies. For Mass, being selected for the program was both meaningful and encouraging. “Being selected for the MS-CIP program was both an honor and an exciting opportunity,” she said. “It was rewarding to be recognized and trusted with an experience that will support both my professional growth and contributions to MSH.” Mass said she was especially drawn to the opportunity to strengthen her leadership skills while gaining a better understanding of how to lead improvement initiatives in practical ways. “What interested me most about MS-CIP was the opportunity to enhance my leadership skills while gaining a broader understanding of what it takes to truly lead improvement initiatives,” she said. “I am especially interested in learning how to apply these skills in a practical way to become a more effective leader and support positive change within my organization.” She added that the opportunity to learn alongside professionals from across Mississippi made the program especially appealing. Through the program, Mass hopes to strengthen her leadership and communication skills while continuing to grow as an engaged and accessible leader. She also looks forward to gaining tools that will help her contribute more effectively to organizational initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Mass believes the experience will help her become more effective in her current role by enhancing her strategic thinking, strengthening her ability to lead initiatives, and allowing her to apply new ideas and best practices to improve efficiency and outcomes. Being selected to represent MSH in the program is something she views as both an honor and a responsibility. “Being selected to represent MSH is a distinct honor and a commitment to embodying our organization’s values of compassion and excellence,” she said. “My goal is to serve as a positive reflection of our work while actively engaging in this program to bring back actionable skills that will strengthen our hospital and improve outcomes for the individuals that we serve.” Mass said she hopes the program will help her identify opportunities for growth and implement meaningful improvements that contribute to a more efficient, collaborative, and supportive work environment. She also encouraged others who may be interested in applying for future classes to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that the program offers valuable experiences, knowledge, and connections that can benefit both individual careers and the organization as a whole. Mississippi State Hospital congratulates Mass on this achievement and looks forward to the positive impact her participation in MS-CIP will bring.
